How to make the Oreo Bats:

    • Once the Oreos covered in candy melts have set up, cut a thin Oreo in half creating the wings.
    • Carefully separate the dipped Oreo and place the wings inside. Fix the wings in place with a little of the melted candy melts on the back of the wings. Add a little more of the candy melt between the bottom and top piece of the Oreo (the pieces you separated to put the wings on), and press back together.

    How to melt candy melts?

I like to melt 1 cup of candy melts with 1 tbs coconut oil or shortening at a time. Heat for 30 seconds at 50% power, stir, repeat until melted.

If the candy melts are still too thick add more coconut oil 1 teaspoon at a time until you get your desired consistency.

    Notes

    Tips and Tricks
    • One 12 oz bag of candy melts will cover almost entire container of Oreos. The exact amount will vary depending on how much coconut oil you used to thin the candy melts.
    • Instead of the food gel you could pipe on black frosting. You can make black frosting my adding black food gel to my dark chocolate frosting recipe.
