Pro Tip: For extra flavor toast your pecans before adding them to the filling. Toast the pecans in preheated oven at 350°F for 5 minutes. They should be fragrant but not burned. Once toasted set aside.
Can you make this into a 2 layered cake?
Yes. Simply separate the batter into 2 cake pans and bake as instructed in the recipe.
Variations:
- Caramel Pecan Pie Cake- Use my filling from my caramel pecan pie for extra sweetness!
- Chocolate- Add a ½ cup-1 cup of chocolate chips to the filling and allow to melt before adding to the cake.
Does pecan pie cake need to be refrigerated?
Yes. Store cake in the refrigerator in an air tight container.
How long does cake last?
This cake is best eaten within 1-2 days of baking it but will stay good for 3-5 days if refrigerated.
Can pecan pie cake be frozen?
Yes. You can freeze the cake in an air tight container for up to 3 months (for best taste/texture). When ready to eat, allow to thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
Is there a butter pecan cake mix?
Yes! I love using the Betty Crocker cake pecan cake mix (amazon affiliate link). It has pudding in the mixture (and we know I love adding pudding to cookies for extra moisture!).
