These Wookie cookies are fun chocolate chip cookies that are perfect for today! May 4th… as in May the 4th be with you!Wookie Cookies

My husband and I have been huge Star War’s fans since we were little, as I’m sure you have been too! We’ve seen all the movies (of course!), read some of the books (not all- there are a ton!), have t-shirts, cups, and even Star Wars Legos. My husband got me death star earrings for Christmas and an awesome dress with the death star plans on it when he was on a business trip.

Anyways, for this “May the 4th be with you” day I thought I’d whip up some of my classic chocolate chip cookies (because my husband has been asking for them every day for the last week!) and then decorate them to look like everyone’s favorite Wookie!

It’s actually super easy and fun to do! I used my super easy chocolate frosting recipe and also whipped up some easy white frosting. I used the #103 tip and chocolate frosting for the ammo belt and then added the ammo using the #8 tip and my easy white frosting. Then using the #3 tip, and more chocolate frosting, I pipped on a face. Simple and they look great!

Wookie Cookies

I couldn’t decide if I like them better with or without a face so I did both! Which wookie cookie do you like better?

Wookie Cookies

Do you have any Star War’s plans for today? Maybe watch all the movies? That sounds great to me! Which movie is your favorite? Personally the original trilogy can’t be beat in my opinion, but I still love watching all of them!

Now go make these wookie cookies and May the 4th be with you!

Total Time 22 mins
Course Dessert
Cuisine American
Servings 2 Dozen

Ingredients

  • 1 batch of Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies- see link and other directions in instructions

Easy Chocolate Frosting

  • ¼ cup butter melted
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbs plus 2 tsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Easy White Frosting

  • ¼ cup shortening*
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbs plus 2 tsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Make a batch of my classic chocolate chip cookies- but instead of adding the chocolate chunks, add a half cup of chocolate chips instead. You don’t want big chocolate pieces on the top of these cookies because you want them to look all brown like Chewbacca.
  • While cookies are cooling make the frosting.

How to make chocolate frosting:

  • Melt butter in a microwave safe dish.
  • In a large bowl or a stand up mixer add in cocoa powder and mix until smooth.
  • Add in milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla and mix until fully combined and smooth.
  • Place half of the frosting in a piping bag with a Wilton #103 tip and the other in a piping bag with a Wilton #3 tip*.

How to make white frosting:

  • Melt shortening in a microwave safe dish.
  • In a large bowl or a stand up mixer add in milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla and mix
  • Place the frosting in a piping bag with a Wilton #8 tip.

How to decorate cookies:

  • Using your chocolate frosting with the #103 tip make a line at a diagonal from the upper right to the bottom left.
  • Using the white frosting pipe on little squares on top of the chocolate line.
  • If you are drawing on the face use the chocolate frosting with the Wilton #3 tip.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

*I promise you won’t be able to taste the shortening, plus you are using such a little amount of the white frosting it’s more for looks anyways! If you used bitter instead of shortening it would be more yellow and not a nice white.  *The Wilton #3 tip is for make the eyes and mouth. I couldn’t decide if I like these cookies with or without the face- so if you want a face then you will use this tip.

Wow, very creative ideas! I am just confused with the tips. I have some at home but don’t know the numbers. This is some special collection of tips you are using? Where can I buy them? Thanks

The tips are standard sizes provided by Wilton. The tip size is located on the packaging but also on the tip itself. Look at the tip you have and there should be a number or a number letter combo. Hope that helps!
